What are the optimal winter settings?
This depends on your goal - are you oriented towards seeing the best overall economy from your system or do you only care about covering your needs?
I want the best economy:
Generally speaking, the optimal settings no matter the time of year is to allow all battery modes and not limit the system with any custom charging rules.
These should only be used if there is a real need for it - e.g. to lower maximum battery charge power from the grid to prevent risk of blowing the fuse).
That way, the system can optimise your system fully to achieve the best possible economy.
I only want to optimise battery charging and use:
If you wish for the system to focus on being ready to cover your needs and don’t wish to sell energy, even if it means losing potential additional earnings, adjust the Allowed battery modes in your Plant settings this way:
Disable: Locked, Discharge to grid
Keep enabled: Charge from grid, Inactive
I also have an electric vehicle, what can I do?
IntelliCharge cannot optimise your car charging yet (though this is something we are actively working on and are already testing the first version for a selected brand).
We can help you charge your house battery in the cheapest hours even if your car is charging at the same time and save the stored energy for the expensive hours while not draining your house battery to support the car battery charging.
If you charge your car during the night, as many typically do during winter months, you can use our Scheduled Battery Lock feature. Simply set your preferred schedule once, and IntelliCharge will follow it until you disable or update it.
Go to Plant settings and scroll down to the Battery Lock (EV) section.
- Enable Use the Schedule.
- Click Add to create a schedule.
- Select the day(s) when you do not want the house battery to be discharged.
- Select the start and end time for the selected days.
- Click + to add additional schedules if you need different times for different days.
- Click Save.
Remember to also enable Automatic EV Charge Filtering so IntelliCharge excludes EV charging consumption when estimating your household energy needs.
